TRIGGER point therapy in the form of dry needling will be available at Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC) at a special deal from February 25 to March 25.
This was announced by JPMC's Department of Rehabilitation at a press conference yesterday.
Vivian Tie, JPMC Head of Rehabilitation and Physiotherapist, and the centre's marketing officer, Ak Danny Pg Tajuddin, said that the procedure is being offered at 25 per cent off its consultation fee on the first assessment visit session packages.
There are three session packages: a 30-minute treatment priced at $33.75, 60-minute treatment priced at $56.25 and a 75-minute treatment priced at $71.25.
Tie said that dry needling has been attested to efficiently reduce musculoskeletal pain, repetitive stress injury, headaches and at the same time, promote healing of muscles.
She also said that the needles are directly inserted into the trigger point areas of the muscle to deactivate and desensitise the area.
Dry Needling is based on western neuroanatomy and modern scientific study of the musculoskeletal system and should not be confused with traditional acupuncture
Patients are advised to take up four sessions for optimal recovery and each patient is limited up to four sessions only of any discounted package. If a patient is not qualified for dry needling, medical advice and exercises will be carried out with a minimum fee of BND20.
The Department of Rehabilitation is open for consultations every Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 12noon and 1 pm to 5 pm.
On Fridays, the department will be closed from 12 pm to 2 pm for the Friday Prayer whereas every Saturday, it is open from 8 am to 12 pm.
