THE AUSTRALIAN High Commission hosted a Hi-Tea event to mark the upcoming International Women's Day 2013 and was held at the residence of the Australian High Commissioner at Kota Batu.
Present at the event as the guest of honour was Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Datin Paduka Hjh Adina Othman. Also present at the event was Australian High Commissioner His Excellency Todd Mercer, personnel from the Australian High Commission and invited guests which included prominent female figures in Brunei.
The event began with a welcoming remark from His Excellency Todd Mercer which was followed by a video by Australia's Governor General Quentin Bryce. The video showed the governor general speaking on issues relating to violence against women and the significance and importance of International Women's Day.
This was followed by a speech that was presented by Datin Paduka Hjh Adina. The focus of the event was a talk that was presented by Dr Sonali Pande from JPMC who spoke on osteoporosis. The doctor explained the symptoms of the "silent disease", how to identify it and the types of treatments that can be sought if one is diagnosed with osteoporosis and many more.
