JPMC to mark International Women’s Day with health screening promotion

THE Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC) in collaboration with The Body Shop is holding a women's health screening promotion in conjunction with the International Women's Day. Women who undergo the screening will receive a complimentary gift from The Body Shop and stand a chance to participate in a lucky draw to win exclusive The Body Shop gift hampers.

"At the Jerudong Park Medical Centre, we are committed to improving women's health and the health of their family," said the Head of Marketing of JPMC, Awangku Danny Pengiran Tajuddin at a press conference yesterday.

The month-long exclusive Gynaecology and Breast Screening Promotion, which will be available from March 9 to April 9, 2015 will focus on enhancing the awareness of gynaecological well-being among women in Brunei.

"Through this programme, we aim to achieve an improvement in the overall health of women of all ages," said Awangku Danny, adding that in a similar promotion held in conjunction with Mother's Day last year, two early stage cases were found out of the 50 patients who underwent the screening."

The promotion will include a mammogram screening or breast ultrasound, which caters to women aged 40 years and above. The results will be available within two working days. The Gynaecological Screening Promotion includes two specialist Gynaecology consultations, vital signs, body mass index (BMI), blood test, thin pre-pap test, female cancer markers test and abdominal or vaginal ultrasound at an exclusive price of B$368.

Also present at the press conference were Consultant of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department, Dr Chitra Karat, and Radiologist from Department of Diagnostic Imaging (DDI) of JPMC, Dr Shyja Abraham Sequeira, who gave an insight of the screening package.

In conjunction with the International Women's Day, JPMC will be hosting a free Zumba Session this coming weekend, March 7, 2015 at the Pedestrian Mall of the Indoor Stadium in Berakas beginning from 4.45pm. Members of the public are welcome to participate in the event.

The International Women's Day is celebrated on March 8 every year. It is known globally as a day for general celebration of respect, appreciation and love towards women in economic, political, and social achievements.

The JPMC Obstetrics and Gynaecology Clinic is open every Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm and on Friday, the department is closed from 12pm to 2pm for the Friday prayers whereas every Saturday, it is open from 8am to 12 noon.​
