Job Summary
Hospital Aide staff being under the Nursing Department provides assistance to patients and their significant others to meet their individual health needs by working directly with the staff nurses.
Professional Requirements
- At least 3 to 5 years of working experience in a clinic, hospice or hospital
- Voluntary experience also advantageous; with demonstrated experience in customer service and knowledge of a customer service approach to care delivery / service provision.
Educational Requirements
- Minimum 3 O'Levels in English, Science and Maths, preferable.
- Diploma / Certification in Basic or Assistant Nursing care is preferable.
Specialised Skills/Knowledge/Attribute Requirement
- Knowledge of medical terminology is highly advantageous
- Knowledge of basic computer operations such as Microsoft Work or Excel or familiarity with systems.
- Knowledge of infection control and quality assurance practices and guidelines are highly desireable.
Principles Duties and Responsibilities
- To assist nursing staff with patients directly and non-direct activities as to ensure efficient and effective functioning/processes for staff and patients.
- Give assistance to the needs and demands of patients in the ward/unit.
- Maintain a high standard of service in the ward/unit through assigned routine tasks.
- Communicate effectively and accurately with the team, staff nurse, patients, family and visitors.
- Reports any concern to the nursing staff/supervisor as appropriate.
- Assists with patient admission, transfer and discharges.
- Responsible for ward/unit inventory/stock level maintenance.
- Responsible for management of linens supply and storage.
- Shares responsibilities for care of equipment and supplies.
- Report any incidence that is concerned to the Head of Department, Senior Nursing Management Staffs and Senior Hospital Aide (SHA).
