Dr Umesh Goneppanavar has been practicing anaesthesia and critical care for over 20 consecutive years before joining Jerudong Park Medical Centre. He has acquired expertise in the field of anaesthesia, critical care and pain management services from three different premier institutions in India. His special areas of interests are neuroanaesthesia, paediatric anaesthesia and ultrasonography for point of care use. He has been certified in the use of point of care echocardiography. He had been instructor for American Heart Association Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support programmes between 2011-2017.
Dr Umesh Goneppanavar is a permanent member of the Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists, founder member of the All India Difficult Airway Association and life member of the Academy of Regional Anaesthesia. He is currently serving as Associate Editor for Indian Journal of Anaesthesia (most reputed journal for field of Anaesthesia in India, Pubmed Indexed National Journal). He was Associate Editor for Indian Journal of Anaesthesia previously also from Jan 2015 to Dec 2020. He is a reviewer for many reputed international indexed and non-indexed journals since more than 10 years. He is a Core Committee member for development of national guidelines from the Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists and has been instrumental (and co-author) in developing national perioperative fasting and feeding guidelines as well as preoperative investigations guidelines for the Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists. He has also worked in the capacity of the Field Medical Director, Operation Smile, India and has been part of several national and international Operation Smile missions.
