Job Summary

  • The Consultant Radiologist will interpret and report diagnostic imaging studies, including but not limited to:
    • X-ray
    • Ultrasound
    • CT Scan
    • MRI
    • Fluoroscopy
    • Mammography
    • Non-vascular interventions

Professional Requirements and Educational Requirements

  • A minimum of ten (10) years of full-time clinical training and working experience post registration in a government or other private health facilities is required.
  • Possess a Primary Medical Degree, MBBS or equivalent.
  • Postgraduate training and qualification in a relevant medical specialty is required.
  • Intermediate qualification in the specific specialty from an institute recognized by the Brunei Medical Board is required (e.g., MRCP/FRCS/MRCGP, ABMS Board Certification, FAMS, FCPS, etc.).
  • Award of completion of certification of specialist training or equivalent  is required.
  • Professional Membership or Fellowship such as MRCP/FRCP, MRCS/MRCP, MRCGP/FRCGP, ESMO,or equivalent with work/training experience in relevant field is required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of diagnostic imaging principles, techniques, and clinical applications.
  • Strong understanding of radiation safety, protection standards, and regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with hospital accreditation standards, clinical governance, and quality assurance processes.
  • Knowledge of PACS, RIS, and electronic medical record systems.
  • Understanding of infection prevention and control practices related to radiology services.
  • Ability to apply evidence-based radiology practices and clinical guidelines.
  • Awareness of medico-legal and ethical responsibilities in radiology practice.

 

Principles Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical & Diagnostic Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate, timely, and high-quality interpretation of diagnostic imaging studies (X-ray, Ultrasound, CT, MRI, Fluoroscopy, etc.).
  • Perform and/or supervise interventional radiology procedures in accordance with approved clinical privileges.
  • Provide expert imaging advice to referring clinicians.
  • Ensure prioritization and prompt reporting of emergency, urgent, and inpatient imaging cases.
  • Communicate critical and unexpected findings promptly to the appropriate clinical teams.

Patient Safety & Clinical Governance

  • Ensure compliance with radiation safety principles, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Uphold patient safety standards (patient identification, consent, clinical documentation).
  • Report and manage clinical incidents, adverse events, and near-miss occurrences according to hospital policy.
  • Practice in accordance with professional, ethical, and medico-legal standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality and data protection at all times.

Operational & Service Delivery

  • Participate in on-call, after-hours, weekend, public holiday, and extended duty rosters.
  • Ensure accurate, complete, and timely documentation of radiology reports in PACS/RIS systems.
  • Adhere to departmental SOPs, policies, and workflows to ensure efficient service delivery.

Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in clinical audits, peer review, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support departmental accreditation, licensing, and regulatory inspections.
  • Demonstrate commitment to continuous improvement.

Teaching, Training & Development

  • Participate in teaching, training, and professional development activities.
  • Support competency assessment and continuous professional development of radiology staff.

Professional & Regulatory Compliance

  • Maintain current medical registration, credentialing, and CME requirements.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and ethical conduct.
