About The Doctor

Length of Work:

He is an early-career consultant radiation oncologist based at The Brunei Cancer Centre (TBCC), Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC), Brunei Darussalam. He began his radiation oncology training at Dunedin Hospital, New Zealand, and completed the later years at Waikato Hospital, New Zealand. These training years provided him with a well-rounded experience and exposure to a broad range of techniques, including superficial radiotherapy, 3D conformal radiotherapy, IMRT/VMAT, stereotactic radiotherapy, TSET, TBI, brachytherapy, and unsealed source radiotherapy (Phosphorus-32 and Iodine-131).

His current clinical practice is informed by this training, as well as his previous medical and surgical experience—particularly in surgical oncology through roles as a cardiothoracic registrar and neurosurgery house officer, in medical oncology as a senior house officer, and in acute medicine as a general medical registrar.

He has a strong passion for research, which he continues to integrate with full-time clinical responsibilities. Actively involved in clinical research projects and audits, he has published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at conferences. In 2018, he was awarded the Asia-Pacific Clinical Oncology Research Development (ACORD) Trainee Fellowship. From 2021 to 2022, he was the New Zealand Representative for Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Radiology (RANZCR) Radiation Oncology Research Committee.

He also has a keen interest in the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare, particularly in radiation oncology, and in leveraging the digitalisation of health data. A self-taught novice Python programmer, he is committed to continual learning. At his previous hospital, he developed patient referral triaging software that was successfully implemented into clinical use. He has also completed an executive program from MIT titled Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Health Care, which provided valuable insight into the many ways AI can transform healthcare delivery.
