24th September 2023 – Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC) is proud of its pioneering collaboration with the Brunei Society of Anaesthesiologists in organizing the first-ever “Anesthesia Conference: Anaesthesia Update 2023”, held on the 24th September 2023 at Indera Kayangan Ballroom, The Empire Brunei.
The conference was attended by over 80 people, including healthcare professionals from Brunei Darussalam and neighboring countries. This event provided an important platform for experts and practitioners, especially in the field of anaesthesiology, to meet, share valuable insights, and learn about the latest advances and research in anaesthesiology and perioperative care.
Dr. Meera Sahib Kabeer, Medical Director of JPMC, opened the conference with a warm welcome. The event was honoured to receive Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health, in the capacity as Executive Director of JPMC as the Guest of Honour. In his address, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar expressed optimism about the event’s potential impact on the field of anesthesia care. He stated, “The Anaesthesia Conference is a unique opportunity for healthcare professionals to come together, learn from each other, and shape the future of anesthesia care. We look forward to engaging in stimulating discussions, sharing groundbreaking research, and promoting the highest standards of patient safety.”
The event was followed by expressing gratitude through a token of appreciation to The Society of Anaesthesiologists of Brunei Darussalam for their invaluable partnership and significant contributions to the conference. In addition, Merk Sharp & Dohme (MSD), the event sponsor, was acknowledged for its generous support, which contributed to the success of the conference.
The scientific sessions of the conference were enriched by the presence of distinguished speakers from neighboring countries, including Dr Joseph Abueg, MSD Regional Director for Medical Affairs, Asia – Pacific, Dr Shahridan Bin Mohd Fathil, Consultant Anaesthesiology, Gleneagles Hospital Medini Johor, Malaysia and Professor Dr Ina Ismiarti Binti Shariffuddin, Universiti Malaya of Malaysia.
The session also featured local healthcare experts, from Jerudong Park Medical Centre, Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital (RIPAS), Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre (PJSC) and Gleneagles JPMC.
The Society of Anaesthesiologists of Brunei Darussalam, which is also committed to improving anaesthesia care, played a crucial role in promoting professional development, knowledge sharing and maintaining the highest standards of practice in the specialty.
