JPMC Celebrates Social Work: A Harambee Call for Unity

Thursday, 2nd April 2026 – Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC) proudly commemorated World Social Work Day to celebrate social workers who tirelessly work to support our community, especially those who are in need. This year’s celebration carries the global theme “Co-Building Hope and Harmony: A Harambee Call to Unite a Divided Society”, reflecting JPMC’s commitment to fostering compassion, unity, and service within the community.

Joining us in celebrating this auspicious event as the Guest of Honour was Yang Behormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Md Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health in his capacity as Chairman of Board of Directors and Executive Director of JPMC. The event began with the recital of Surah AI-Fatihah and Doa Selamat by Ustaz Amir Ridzuan bin Haji Tengah, Religious Education Officer of JPMC.

This was followed by welcoming remarks were delivered by Dr Muhd Hiza Wardy bin Haji Abdul Halim, Director of General Medical Services of JPMC, who emphasized the vital role of social work in bridging divides and nurturing care.

Attendees were then presented with a video highlighting the Social Work in the perspective of staff and patients, providing insights on what it truly means to be of services for others. This is then followed by a special religious talk entitled “Returning to Purity: Reviving the Value of Ihsan in Care and Service” by Ustaz Ahmad Muzhafar bin Hj Marsidi, Religious Development Officer, Pusat Da’wah Islamiah.

Certificates of appreciation were presented to sponsors and vendors in recognition of their support, while Hari Raya hampers were distributed to patients as a gesture of care and goodwill.

The event concluded with light refreshments and warm fellowship among guests and participants. As the programme came to an end, JPMC reaffirmed its commitment to supporting social work values and nurturing harmony within the community.
