24 July 2026 – In celebration of International Nurses and Midwives Day (INMD) 2026, the JPMC Nursing Department organised a special event titled “Stronger Together with the Ri’ayah Wa Mahabbah Students”, bringing together nursing professionals, students and educators in a meaningful celebration of inclusion, teamwork and wellbeing beyond the healthcare setting.
The programme was honoured by the presence of the Guest of Honour, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health, in the capacity as Chairman and Executive Director of JPMC. Also in attendance were representatives from the Ministry of Education, and members of JPMC Senior Management, reflecting the importance of community engagement in promoting health and wellbeing.
The event welcomed 150 participants, comprising students and teachers from the Ri’ayah Wa Mahabbah programme, members of the JPMC Nursing Department. Participants took part in a series of interactive sports and team-building activities that encouraged teamwork, interaction and active participation throughout the day.
INMD celebrated annually to recognise the dedication and invaluable contributions of nurses and midwives in delivering safe, compassionate and person-centred healthcare.
Beyond celebrating INMD, the initiative reflected the Nursing Department’s commitment to promoting compassion, inclusion and community engagement. By welcoming students from Ri’ayah Wa Mahabbah to be part of the celebration, the event reinforced the values of empathy, respect and person-centred care that are at the heart of the nursing and midwifery profession.
“Nursing is more than just a job, it’s about caring for people and making a difference beyond the hospital. The International Nurses and Midwives Day give us a chance to give back to the community and do something meaningful.” said Ms Chung Yea Fui, Director of Nursing at JPMC.
The initiative also supported the JPMC’s efforts to encourage healthy lifestyles, strengthen community partnerships and inspire a spirit of collective responsibility. By bringing together students, educators and healthcare professionals, the event highlighted the positive impact of teamwork and reaffirmed the role of nurses and midwives as advocates for health, wellbeing and community development.
