Dr Naveed Zeb Alam

About The Doctor
Dr Naveed Alam is a Thoracic Surgeon who has been practicing as a consultant in Melbourne since 2005, with additional consultations in Launceston. He operates at St Vincent’s, Epworth Richmond, and Monash Medical Centre. He is now also certified by the Brunei Medical Board. After completing his medical degree and surgical training in Canada, Dr Alam pursued advanced fellowships at the National Cancer Institute of Canada and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. His areas of expertise include minimally invasive surgery (VATS and robotic), thoracic oncology, and surgical education. Dr Alam is highly involved in training surgeons both nationally and internationally through his work with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and as a board member of the Asian Thoracoscopic Education Platform. He also serves as a senior lecturer at the University of Melbourne. In addition to his clinical work, Mr. Alam is the Co-founder and Clinical Director of Swisstec Group, where he focuses on developing strategic partnerships with global industry leaders, governments, and healthcare professionals. His goal is to enhance access to quality healthcare in remote regions of Australia and Southeast Asia. In JPMC Dr Alam specialises in treating Slipping Rib Syndrome (SRS), a rare condition where the cartilage on a person’s lower ribs slips or dislocates, with a newer surgical procedure called Chest Wall Stabilisation.
