24th April 2024 – With the advancement of technology, medical screening tools have vastly evolved throughout the years enabling easy-to-use and non-invasive methods to diagnose diseases, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Diabetic Retinopathy is no exception. The launch of AI Diabetic Retinopathy was held at JPMC Ophthalmology Clinic on Wednesday, 24th April 2024.
The event began with the blessings of Doa Selamat followed by an officiation by the Guest of Honour, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health and Executive Director of JPMC, joined by Tuan Haji Maswadi bin Haji Mohsin, Permanent Secretary at Ministry of Health, representatives from Ministry of Health, Senior Management and Head of Departments of JPMC, and JPMC’s Ophthalmologist Visiting Consultants. The event concluded with a demonstration of AI Diabetic Retinopathy Screening.
One in three people with diabetes is diagnosed with diabetic retinopathy, making it one of the most common diabetes complications. With the innovation of AI technology, it will transform healthcare standards by improving quality of life through preventive care. “Investing on advanced technology to improve medical diagnostics is vital to be at the forefront of healthcare, with JPMC taking the lead, we hope this will enable many possibilities of first-stage medical diagnostics.” said by Yang Berhomat Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham.
