12 May 2026 – Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC) officially launched its International  Nurses and Midwives Day (INMD) 2026 celebration through “Breakfast with Nurses”, a meaningful occasion held in appreciation of the unwavering dedication, professionalism, and compassion demonstrated by nurses and midwives in delivering quality healthcare services and supporting the well-being of communities across Brunei Darussalam.

The event was officiated by the Guest of Honour, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji  Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health, reflecting the continued recognition of nurses and midwives as an essential pillar of the healthcare system and the driving force behind safe, compassionate, and patient-centred care.

The ceremony began with welcoming remarks by JPMC’s Director of Nursing, Ms Chung Yei

Fui, who reflected on the significance of International Nurses and Midwives Day and  acknowledged the vital role nurses and midwives play in delivering compassionate care and shaping positive patient experiences.

This year’s International Nurses Day theme, “Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives,” highlights the importance of supporting and empowering nurses in delivering  safe, compassionate, and quality care. Observed globally, INMD serves as an important occasion to recognise the dedication and resilience of nurses and midwives, whose  contributions extend beyond clinical care to providing comfort, advocacy, and reassurance to patients and families throughout their healthcare journey.

Reflecting on this year’s theme, Ms Chung Yei Fui shared, “Thank you for being the strength behind healthcare. Thank you for being the voice for patients and for each other. And thank you for showing the world what empowered nursing truly looks like.”

Continuing the annual tradition, Ms Chung Yei Fui also led a cake distribution session to all clinical units for nurses, midwives, and staff under the Nursing Department, as a gesture of appreciation for their unwavering dedication and service.

At JPMC, nurses and midwives remain at the heart of the organisation’s efforts in delivering safe, high-quality healthcare and enhancing patient well-being through compassionate and professional care.
