18th October 2024 – Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC) Pharmacy Department had the opportunity to organize an eventful day to appreciate JPMC Pharmacy’s dedication in ensuring patient safety and excellent care, while raising awareness on their roles, responsibilities and expertise to ensure a better health, in line with this year’s theme “Meeting Global Health Needs.” The event was held on Friday, 18th October 2024 at the main lobby of Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre (PJSC).
The event was graced with the presence of the Guest of Honour Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health, in his capacity as Chairman and Executive Director of JPMC. Also in attendance were members of JPMC Board, senior officials from the Ministry of Health, JPMC, PJSC, Gleneagles JPMC, Universiti Brunei Darussalam’s Faculty of Pharmacy, and pharmacists from the private sector. The event began with a doa recital, followed by welcoming remarks from JPMC Pharmacy Manager, Ms Stephanie Lee, and an opening speech by the Guest of Honour.

They form an essential part of the healthcare infrastructure, contributing to improve overall effectiveness and efficiency of healthcare delivery.” expressed Yang Berhormat Dato in his speech.
In the past, the role of pharmacy professionals may have been perceived as solely dispensing medication. However, we recognize that behind the counter lies a complex integration of responsibilities, processes, and collaborative efforts with healthcare professionals to ensure both the quality and safety of medication use for patients. JPMC Pharmacy continuously improves the quality and standards of practice to meet the expanding role of the profession across the healthcare facilities it serves. Over the years, JPMC Pharmacy has embarked on collaborative efforts such as the Antibiotic Stewardship Program (ASP) to combat the global rise in antimicrobial resistance, stepped up surveillance of medication safety and established policies and procedures concerning Medication Management and Use (MMU) as an accredited Joint Commission International (JCI) hospital. Their dedication, relentless strive for excellence and compassionate care towards patients are significant contributions to JPMC’s high standard of patient care.
The event concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony, followed by a tour of the booths and JPMC/PJSC Pharmacy. As a vital part of the hospital, JPMC Pharmacy plays an essential role in our operations, and JPMC is proud to use this occasion to express its appreciation for the department’s dedication.
